Dr. Eric Raidl

Research Interests: Philosophical Logic, Epistemology and Philosophy of Mind and Language.

I am currently working as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Konstanz in Germany within the DFG research project "Conditionals and Information Transfer"which forms part of the DFG research unit "What if ...?".

I obtained my Ph.D. in Philosophy (University Paris-Panthéon Sorbonne) in 2014, after studying at the École Normale Supérieure and completing my MSc in Mathematical Logic (University Paris-Diderot).

My primary research interests are philosophical logic, epistemology, and philosophy of mind and language. In my Ph.D. thesis, Probabilité, Invariance et Objectivité (Probability, Invariance and Objectivity), I investigated the prospects and limits of the view according to which probabilistic invariance leads to a notion of objectivity.

As a postdoctoral researcher, I have developed a ranking-theoretic approach to evaluating acceptance of conditionals which, in collaboration with the psychologist Niels Skovgaard-Olsen, we plan to implement as a new paradigm in the psychology of reasoning. I have taught courses in logics, epistemology, philosophy of science and philosophy of language and mind. My main research interests include the logic of conditionals, philosophy of probability and other representations of uncertainty.
